Science Week

Every 2 years Mrs Vardon works very hard to organise a spectacular Science Week with visitors, experiments and fun for all the children.

In school only - watch Mr Goakes' film of Science week

In Science Week Year 2 went on a trip to Lattersley Nature Reserve in Whittlesey.  On the reserve we did pond dipping, insect sweeping and made collections of colourful plants.  The children were amazed by all the different animals that we found and were inspired to record these when they got back to school.

Sensory Garden

Mrs Burt has planned a beautiful Sensory Garden in one of our courtyards at AJS.  In it are many scented plants, windchimes, different textures and a lovely water feature.  It is looked after by TAs and selected children who benefit enormously from this environment.

Outdoor Classroom

Last year an area behind the school was redeveloped to provide an outdoor classroom, with a pond big enough for a large group of children to work at and an all weather seating area.  The children have been thrilled with their new work area although have agreed not to use it for the time being as a family of starlings have made it their home!
