Choir go mad

On Thursday 25 of May choir had a massive practice to prepare for a massive concert at Sir Harry Smith Community College. They sing well-known favourites including 'Swing low sweet chariot'. Mrs Combes packs lots of practice into one short session. Also there is a lot of humour in Choir and looks a lot of fun.

AJS band goes crazy

On Tuesday 23rd of May 2006 AJS school band went absolutely crazy.  They play in 2 to 3 different parts together. You should see the concentration on their faces. heir eyes are glued to the notes on the paper, it's UNBELIEVABLE! Band are going to play in 'Schools Make Music' at Sir Harry Smith school. They are brilliant. Mr Colbran teaches the group. He makes funny hand gestures and always hums to the music. The song that they are working on is called 'Yellow Rose of Texas' .

Stringtacular Violinists!

AJS love music. They have many music clubs, including band, recorders, keyboards, clarinets, singing in the choir and even VIOLINS!

As everybody knows, the violin is a string instrument you play with a bow. AJS like to give all children the opportunity to play an instrument, to let out their creative side. What better to play a violin? It does take a lot of concentration, and you may have to put up with your mum and dad screaming at you from downstairs to stop playing when you’re not that good, however it’s worth it, try telling them, when you play at the coffee morning, and your mum is crying and your dad is bragging to his friends about how good you are! At AJS (according to how good you are) you go sometime in school time on Thursdays. It’s not an excuse to miss maths though kids!

Keyboards

Keyboards is a very easy instrument it is the most easiest instrument in the world and it is here in Alderman Jacobs school.

They have very easy books they are

Book one, Book two and Book three.

They all start off with book one and they slowly move up to 2 and 3.

The teachers are very kind and they are experts

So you learn like a flash. The people who go

think that it is very easy. The music is like

Rudolph the red nose Reindeer to colours of Day.

Creative Week 2005

Every year AJS hold an International Creative week.  Each Year group chooses a country to study and the teachers plan art, drama and music activities to fill the week.  Often the highlights of the week are the visitors that come in and the workshops that they hold.  Tom the Pom visits Year 2 to teach them how to play the didgeridoo!  African Dancers come in to teach Year 1 some traditional dances and African Drummers give a very loud performance in the main hall.
